What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Name and email address
Email addresses of people who have contacted us via our contact form, and to whom we have replied, are automatically saved in our Gmail account — collected solely for the purpose of responding to enquiries.
We do not share this information with anyone, unless specifically indicated and when explicit consent has been given by the sender, or in the highly unlikely event that we are legally obliged to do so.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Comment form cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

We never share your name or email address with anybody unless legally obliged to do so.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Security logs are retained for 14 days.
What rights you have over your data
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. Lawful basis for processing data
If people have emailed us, they have given us their email address and, usually, their name. We do not actively add this to a list but Gmail will save it to our Contacts. We will not add it to any database or spreadsheet unless someone asks us to, or gives us explicit permission to do so.
Children
This website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not actively process such data.
Data breaches
We have done everything we can to prevent data breaches, by strongly password-protecting our computers, mobile devices, Gmail, and hosting accounts, and using two-factor verification wherever available. Our website is hosted on a platform protected using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology — the industry standard method of encrypting personal information. Access to back-end website management is also protected by strong passwords and two-factor verification.
